Friends of Thorassia - The Writers

At the core of great filmmaking are stories that take us to a place where we would likely not go on our own. They are stories that use careful, meticulous plotting taking us one step at time from the beginning to the end. Their characters are artfully crafted revealing only what is needed in that moment drawing us closer and closer to them until we can't help but love them or hate them whichever the story requires. As audience members, we immediately know when a film is well written.

At Thorassia we know the struggle of the writer all too well. Our first film the Nicholl's Letter chronicles the days and the lives of unknown and failed writers everywhere. That is why this section of the site is dedicated to those people that put their hearts and minds to paper. Please take the opportunity to read and explore some of Indy's newest writing talents and their daily struggle. Feel free to contact us with regard to any of this material we welcome your comments and will gladly pass them on to the writers themselves.

Scott Leadingham

Scott Leadingham hails from the Northwest and is continually perplexed by corn and its many byproducts. He moved to Indiana at age 22, apparently searching for a good place to spend lots of money. He found that place at Indiana University, from which he received a master of public affairs degree. He was extremely disappointed to find that the public affairs had little to do with the indiscretions of elected officials.

Although he never formally studied journalism, Scott considers himself a journalist, if for no other reason than an unhealthy fascination with CNN’s Anderson Cooper. He currently works for the Society of Professional Journalists, headquartered in Indianapolis (that mecca of journalism…). He is most intrigued by self-depreciating humor and tremendously subjective reporting, something like David Sedaris meets Hunter S. Thompson. When not writing or working, he can be found hiking, mountain biking, or listening to National Public Radio. You can follow him on Twitter, if you’re so inclined and bored: http://www.twitter.com/scottleadingham. Contact him at scottleadingham@gmail.com.

Lisa Gus

She's a mother, a wife, a daughter, a granddaughter, a slave to a very persnickety cat, a writer, a medical researcher, a Democrat, an Obama groupie, a foodie, a shoe hoarder, a people watcher, a conservationist, a reluctant (but apparently prolific) blogger. So, who am I, really? Still figuring that one, out. Update as I go along. :-) You can read her at her blog.

Margaret Walker

She has been writing short stories and poetry since her earliest days. She is a strong Christian and very much enjoys writing in that voice but she can be flexible and write from all perspectives. She does human interest and personal interview writing very well. She authored an interpretation of Sigmund Freud on dream interpretation when in college. You can see her in action at youtube.

Amanda Thompson

She attends Northview Christian Life Church in Carmel, IN. She is a Youth Leader for the High School students and volunteers every Sunday for the High School worship time. You can contact her by email.

Malarie Piercy

She holds a BS in Media Art and Technology received from Indiana University’s Informatics program. Currently she works at the IU School of Nursing as a Technology Coordinator where she helps faculty and staff create podcasts, and other multimedia presentations for their classes. She has been writing since junior high school, and has written a little bit of everything from poems and stories to scripts for commercials and plays. She is experienced in many digital art programs, and often volunteers to act in and help direct student projects. You can contact her by email.
